AAS requires a High School Diploma or GED; TD requires Ability to Benefit

Note: Transferable General Education Courses needed to meet the requirements for the AAS are offered through a collaborative agreement with South Louisiana Community College (SLCC).

This program does not have special considerations or information.

The objectives of the Hospitality/Tourism-Guest Services program are to provide students with knowledge and/or skills that deal with:
  • Resolving guest conflict.
  • Completing, revising, and canceling of a guest reservation.
  • Performing the activities associated with the guest cycle including guest check-in/check-out procedures.
  • Learning about local geography including area attractions and places of local interest.
  • Learning about local history including the Acadian and Creole cultures.
  • Willingness to problem solve and improve hotel/motel operations.
  • Demonstrating the application of practical skills including employee and guest safety procedures.
  • Functioning as an effective member of the hospitality team.
  • Demonstrating proper cultural diversity skills.
  • Seeking and obtaining employment as a hospitality professional.
  • Competencies necessary for AAS program students to complete English, Math, Speech, Psychology, and Physical Science.
