An application or re-application fee and a testing fee per component are charged for each Application for Admission submitted.

AAS requires a High School Diploma or GED; TD requires Ability to Benefit

Note: Transferable General Education Courses needed to meet the requirements for the AAS are offered through a collaborative agreement with South Louisiana Community College (SLCC).

Licensure/Certification: Certifications, Phlebotomy, Nursing Assistant, Electrocardiogram (EKG) Technician, and/or Patient Care Technician may be earned upon successful completion of all courses .

The objectives of the Patient Care Technician program is to provide training that will enable students to
  • Gain a working use of terminology, skill, and professional attitude needed for employment in the medical field.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of basic computer applications.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and skills of EKG principles and provide and acquire 45 hours of clinical externship under the supervision of a preceptor in a variety of health care settings.
  • Acquire supervised preceptor clinical hours in a variety of health care sites for practical experience with Phlebotomy principles.
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of administrative procedures and records management.
