An application or re-application fee and a testing fee per component are charged for each Application for Admission submitted.

AAS requires a High School Diploma or GED; TD requires Ability to Benefit

Note: Transferable General Education Courses needed to meet the requirements for the AAS are offered through a collaborative agreement with South Louisiana Community College (SLCC).

Graduates will be eligible to seek certification from Louisianas Department of Health and Hospitals via the approved statewide competency exam.

Program objectives:
  • Provide information relative to ensuring that MACs can communicate and interact competently on a one-to-one basis with residents as part of the team implementing resident care;
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to the resident's emotional, social and mental health needs through skillful, directed interactions;
  • Exhibit behavior to support and promote the rights of residents;
  • Demonstrate proficiency in the skills related to medication administration;
  • Prepare graduates for successful completion of the state approved competency exam and eligibility of certification from the Department of Health and Hospitals (DHH).
