Credit

It is preferable that all applicants for continuing education positions have previous experience as corporate trainers and/or experience in teaching the adult learner.

Transferable General Education Faculty
Masters Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the teaching discipline OR Masters Degree that includes 18 graduate credit hours in the teaching discipline.

Non-Transferable General Education Faculty
Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited college or university that includes 15 credit hours in the teaching discipline.

Career Preparation Faculty

1. High School Diploma or GED. And
2. Associates Degree from a nationally or regionally accredited college or university. Bachelors Degree is preferred. And
3. Licensure or certification for the profession. And
4. Two years or the equivalent of two years full-time work experience in the field. And
5. Qualifications required to meet mandatory program accreditation.

Developmental Education Faculty
Bachelors Degree from a regionally accredited college or university in the discipline or closely related field or bachelors degree that includes 15 credit hours in the teaching discipline.

Non-Credit

Continuing Education /LTC Lagniappe: (Education, Experience, or Expertise)
Where applicable, guidelines for credit classes should apply even for non-credit classes. Qualifications for some Continuing Education /LTC Lagniappe instructors will vary according to subject; a degree may not be required. Qualifications may be based on the individual’s being recognized as an expert in the subject and/or holding a license, certificate, or other similar recognition from an authorized sponsoring body. Examples: (more will be added as needed)

CPR/First Aid
Instructor certification for the course being taught by American Heart Association, Red Cross or another certifying organization.

AchieveGlobal/Dimensions of Development Instructor
Instructor certification for the course being taught by the certifying organization.

OSHA Safety Training
Instructor certification for course being taught by a certifying organization.
