Mission and Program Description:
This diploma program is designed to prepare students to work efficiently in the role of cosmetologists and/or hair stylists.
Classroom instruction includes the study of anatomy and physiology of the head, neck, and other areas, infection control, decontamination and sanitation of tools, hair cutting, styling, and coloring, permanent waving and relaxing, facials, and the application of cosmetic make-up. Manicuring, pedicuring, and salon management are also included. Practical skills are developed through experience in an on-site salon which is equipped and managed according to industry standards by the students with instructor supervision.
Upon completion of this program, which is approved by the LA State Board of Cosmetology and meets the 1500-hour requirement, students are eligible to take the LA State Board of Cosmetology licensure examination

The objectives of the Cosmetology program are to:
- Provide training that assists students in acquiring the skills and attitudes necessary for employment in the field.
- Provide training that assists students to develop specific knowledge and skills related to properties of skin, scalp and hair; shampooing, rinsing and conditioning; manicuring and pedicures; hair cutting, styling, coloring; hair treatments; facial services, massage, and makeup; and salon management.
- Provide students with opportunity to meet eligibility requirements necessary to take the LA State Board of Cosmetology licensure examination.
- Provide training that assists students in acquiring the academic skills related to this field of employment.

An application or re-application fee and a testing fee per component are charged for each Application for Admission submitted.
Tuition is paid by the semester. (SEE - Tuition and Fees) Students are also required to purchase books and supplies separately. Contact your host campus for a complete projected cost of this program.
The college accepts cash, personal and company checks, MasterCard or Visa for all fees. A percentage of tuition and fees are refundable up to the tenth day of instruction. No refund will be made after the tenth day.
