What is the K.Y.T.E. program?

The K.Y.T.E. program is for out of school youth. The program offers basic literacy skills, workplace literacy skills, survival skills for youth, life/leadership development skills, occupational skills training, work readiness skills, career exploration, transitional assistance, mentoring, and much more.

How much does the program cost?

The program does not cost anything for all eligible applicants. Your cost will be a commitment to your personal success.

Where will the actual program take place?

Louisiana Technical College (LTC)-Lafayette Campus located at 1101 Bertrand Drive, Lafayette, Louisiana 70506.

What happens at the end of the program?

You will receive a Certificate of Completion and/or GED Diploma, all paid expenses for a short-term customized training program of your choice, referral to post-secondary education and assistance with employment opportunities.

Step 3

After your eligibility has been determined, you will be scheduled to take the TABE test to identify academic needs, and the WORKKEYS Assessment to evaluate employability skills needed. Once your academic needs have been addressed, assuming you are eligible, all eligible participants will go through a two-week Mental Toughness period identifying participant's strengths and weaknesses.

Step 4

You will have an interview with the K.Y.T.E. Program Director to determine your admittance into the program.

14-18 years old on public assistance

  • Candidate's picture identification, birth certificate, social security card and guardian's picture identification.
  •  If candidate has child/children, candidate must provide child/children birth certificate(s) and social security card(s).
  •  Proof of household income (last six months) of working individuals in household. (Will estimate income and documents will not be required.)
  •  Report Card

14-18 years old not on public assistance

  •  Candidate's picture identification along with household birth certificates.
  •  If candidate has child/children, candidate must provide child/children birth certificate(s) and social security card(s).
  •  Proof of household income (last six months) of working individuals in household. (Will need pay stubs or income verification form provided by LCG to be filled out by employer.)
  •  Report Card

19-21 years old on public assistance

  •  Candidate's picture identification, birth certificate, and social security card.
  •  If candidate has child/children candidate must provide child/children birth certificate(s) and social security card(s).
  •  Proof of household income (last six months) of working individuals in household. (Will estimate income and documents will not be required.)

19-21 years old not on public assistance
